Your gauge will be under the hood on top of your tank. Lift the hood, and you will see a dial of 5 – 95. Those numbers tell you the propane percentage left in your tank. If you are a Will Call customer, please get in touch with The Chippewa Valley Energy Office to schedule delivery if your tank reaches 25% or below.

Check out our service area here or call the office at 715-876-6400 to see if we can serve you.

You can use our request delivery form or by calling The Chippewa Valley Energy Office 715-876-6400.

Will Call Customers will be given the approximate date of delivery when their order is placed. We ask that all Will Call customers call us at least five business days before the date they will need propane or when your tank reaches 30 percent. Additional delivery fees will be incurred for orders placed less than three business days before delivery is necessary.

Because propane expands as temperatures warm, we only fill tanks to 80 percent capacity for safety. Again, this is an industry-standard.

If a driver can get to your tank to fill it, you do not need to be home during delivery. Please ensure that there is a clear path to your tank and that the area around your tank is free from any debris or hazards.

Our delivery routes are created based on the order date and amount delivered.  We need to fulfill the previously, scheduled customers on our route, which means we may not be able to take additional deliveries that day.

NFPA 54 (2006), 8.2.3 states, “Immediately after the gas is turned on to a new system or into a system that has been initially restored after an interruption of service, the piping system shall be tested for leakage. If leakage is indicated, the gas supply shall be shut off until the necessary repairs have been made.”

Your tank size will depend on several factors, including usage and location. Please get in touch with The Chippewa Valley Energy Office to help you determine the correct size for your needs.

Generally, propane tanks should be within 100 feet of delivery access. Several factors determine where your tank is set, such as buildings and safety codes. Contact The Chippewa Valley Energy Office for more details.

Please keep grass and brush cut down so it doesn’t grow up and around your tank. Do not use the area around your tank for storage. In the winter, please ensure there is no debris or hazards for our delivery drivers from the driveway to your tank.

Yes, you can paint your tank. However, you will need to pick a light, reflective color. Do NOT pick a dark color such as black. Dark colors tend to attract heat, which can cause pressure to build in your tank, which might cause the relief valve to discharge.

1. No Flames or Sparks! Immediately put all smoking material and other flames. Do NOT operate lights, appliances, telephones, or cell phones. Flames or sparks from these sources can trigger an explosion.
2. Leave the Area Immediately. Get everyone out of the building or area where you suspect gas is leaking.
3. Shut Off the Gas. Turn off the main gas supply valve on your propane tank if it is safe to do so. To close the valve, turn it to the right (clockwise).
4. Report the Leak. Call your local propane retailer from a neighbor’s home or other nearby building away from the gas leak (
Chippewa Valley Energy 715-876-6400). If you can’t reach your propane retailer, call 911 or your local fire department.
5. Do Not Return to the Building or Area until your propane retailer, emergency responder, or qualified service technician determines that it is safe to do so.
6. Get Your System Checked. Before you attempt to use any propane appliance, your propane retailer or a qualified service technician must check your entire system to ensure it is leak-free.
